Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical assignments involving office and field review, inspections, investigations, permit processing, enforcement, and interpretations relating to environmental and health laws and regulations.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Environmental Health Technician is distinguished from the professional Environmental Health Specialist series in that Environmental Health Technicians support the professional work conducted by Environmental Health Specialists. The technical support work may involve elements of the professional work. However, the technical support work requires less than full professional competence in the field.
