Will be responsible for sectioning ferrous, and non-ferrous metals including aluminum, cobalt, nickel, magnesium, and titanium alloys. Will be learning hot and cold mounting techniques, and knowledge of types(s) of mounting techniques used for specific materials and what conditions to avoid to prevent microstructural changes. Will be tasked with learning grinding and polishing techniques with knowledge of type(s) of polishing techniques used for specific materials, as well as, microstructural etching techniques to include chemical and electrolytic techniques.
